Easy set up, works great with SKY+ and 802.11b |
Please see the other reviews for this item.I have had great success with it. Set up took a few short minutes and I had no problems. The quality of the picture on the second TV is excellent. I can control DVD/VCR and SKY+ from the second TV with ease. Another reviewer has expressed concerns with controlling SKY+, but no problems here. The transmitter unit sends IR signals to replicate remote control of the DVD/VCR/SAT devices you are replicating. These IR signals can be boosted with addition IR lights (blaster cables). I had no need to use these. A major word of caution is that video senders including this use the increasingly crowded 2.4GHz band. This is used by many digital phones, baby monitors and 802.11b wireless computer networks. Make sure that you wont clash with other devices in the home. I use BT cordless phones that use another band. I do have an 802.11b network which can clash. A neat feature of the SBCVL1400 is that it can operate in one of four strict channels within the 2.4GHz band. You can play around to find the best channel to use, if necessary. Some reviewers of several video senders have reported big conflicts with 802.11b networks. The picture quality can suffer from interference from the 802.11b systems that tends to scan across the 2.4GHz band for the best signal. I have little or no interference. I use two 3com 802.11b cards in an ad-hoc network. A connected network has no noticable affect on picture quality. Disconnection of one of the cards causes the other card to scan more. A very minor interference line can be noticed every few seconds in this scenario. To sum up, I am very pleased with the Philips TV link as it does what it says on the box. You have to be prepared for some conlflict with other devices, but I recommend having a go!

Philips SBCVL1400 Wireless TV link |

I bought this principally to avoid the hassle of having to install additional aerials/leads into other rooms so we could watch our portable television. However weve been using it for a couple of weeks now and can say that this is most definetly the business. The picture reproduction on DVD, Video or plain TV signal (sent through the video) is outstanding. It comes with a quality remote control that will operate all of your appliances if you want (existing remotes will operate wherever the remote TV is) and 2 scart leads. What more do you want.

This really works very well ! |
I purchased this as bit of an experiment really and have been most pleasantly surprised by the results. I have a wireless LAN at home as well as a wireless central heating roomstat/programmer and I have had no major difficulties getting a clear and crisp picture. I did try a few different channel combinations on my wireless LAN as well at the transmitter and receiver to get the best reception as the default setting (position 1 on transmitter)did suffer from some lines across the screen on TV2.A second slight problem was when I changed my Sky Digibox from a Pace one to a Sony VTX-S760U, for whatever reason this stopped the remote control from being able to change Sky channels from TV2, this was easily rectified by attaching the remote control blaster cord which is supplied. I can now watch and operate Sky, DVDs and videos from the bedroom without having to run cables, purchase more equipment or a get a second sky subsciption. All in all a very nice solution for £79.99, the savings should go towards buying the LCD panel TV for the bedroom. Final comment, the finish quality of both boxes is very nice, as is the 6-in-one remote contoller.
